Peter Banthorpe is Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Risk Officer for Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA). He is responsible for RGA’s global enterprise risk management efforts covering both financial and non-financial risks.
Peter has broad experience within RGA, having previously served as Managing Director of RGA’s UK and Irish business. Before that, he led RGA’s Global Research and Data Analytics group, a team of 60 actuaries and data scientists supporting RGA’s global operations. Peter joined the company in 2010 as Head of Actuarial Research for RGA UK.
Before joining RGA, Peter was Head of Pricing and Reinsurance for Ageas Protect (formerly Fortis). He was one of its first employees and a member of the company’s senior management team, and led the development of its actuarial, management information, and reinsurance capabilities from startup until several years after launch.
Peter is a graduate of Cambridge University and qualified as an actuary in 2003. Over his career, he has actively volunteered within the UK actuarial profession, including serving as a long-standing member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ (IFoA) CMI Executive Committee and chairing the IFoA’s mortality research steering committee.
